Why hello...

Welcome to Teeny Tiny Horses, where I blog photos, drawings, prints, and flights of fancy. The name of the blog comes from my nephew who, when he was teeny tiny himself, saw some grazing horses in the distance and thought he'd discovered some exceptionally small horses! His excitement enchanted me, and I wondered if as an adult, I've acquired too many boundaries hemming in my perception of the world. Maybe somehow in art, there could me an amazing moment of return to a time when there are no rules about the way the world has to be and we get to learn everything for the first time. Maybe that's just called having an open mind, huh?

About Me

I'm an illustrator and comic book artist. A year after relocating from NYC to California, I have a newborn and am trying to reconnect with my creative practice. It's a bewildering and joyous time to figure out how to balance being both a new mom and an artist. In the half an hour-ish I get to myself a day, I'm able to turn out some simple doodles about the little guy who is currently occupying my thoughts. I also draw the ongoing comic book series "The Wonder City". Visit my website - www.courtneyzell.com -- to see paintings, illustration work and comics.
